RP/PVP?

Well, I've been playing a bit on a PVP server, and wow. There is a huge difference between RP and PVP. First, the maturity and IQ level of people on PVP servers seems insanely low. No word of a lie. RP, mostly everyone types in full sentences and has decent grammar and punctuation (not everyone, but a lot more than on PVP). PVP...there are a lot of people that I have to go "...what?" because I honestly can't figure out what they're saying. Also, people on PVP servers SUCK at instances. You would think that they'd be okay at them, since you get a lot of nice twink gear from instances...but no, this doesn't seem to be the case. They don't look at each others health and go "Oh shit, someone hit the priest, I better take aggro off the priest!" nope. They're much too HARDCORE for that. They just let the priest die, then go "WTF HAPPENED?" and blame the poor little priest, who is usually go "help!!". Also, LFG is hell on PVP servers. You finally get into a group, and right as you're typing "Hi", the other person leaves without a word. This has happened to me so many times that I'm beginning to think that I've got some crazy disease or something. But apparently it happens a lot. Basically, people have no manners. Also, when you DO finally get into the instance, it's normal for people to just randomly leave without saying anything. I'm used to hearing "Okay guys, this is just lame and we obviously can't handle this. I'm out.", or some excuse "Oh shit I forgot I have to work today!", whatever. That's fine, as long as they actually tell you why they're suddenly ditching you.

And yeah, I know this doesn't apply to all RP & PVP servers...and not everyone is this bad/good. But, I'm just ranting slightly. I feel dizzy now, so sleepy time.

LoTRO, Why do you hate me so?

First, I have to say, LoTRO is awesome! I know a lot of my friends don't exactly like it, but that's because they're WoW addicts and honestly don't give other games a decent chance (I know this, because I've done it myself too. "Nothing can compare to WoW!").
Anyhow, Nate convinced me to download the LoTRO trial (I've wanted to try it, but never thought about actually downloading it...silly me.), which took about, 4 hours I'd say, to download the normal version (3.9 GB, high res is almost 7 GB I think!). Anyhow, my video card is the minimum requirment for LoTRO, so the first thing I did once it was done updating was crank all the video settings as low as they'd go, just in case, and I figured if it worked fine I could turn some of them up a bit.

For the first little while, things ran smoothly, no noticeable lag or problems with the graphics (besides them being really blurry from being on the lowest settings possible) and I fumbled my way through to about level 3 before suddenly all the movement on the screen stopped. For a brief second, I thought I was lagging, until a mass jumble of insane colors showed up across my screen...and let me tell you, I was not happy.
Now, I'm not a computer genius or anything, but I can figure out when my video card is being worked too hard, so I managed to exit LoTRO and restarted my computer. I've never really had problems with games not working on my computer, so I thought maybe if I just update the drivers, that would solve the problem. So, I updated as many as I could (some hadn't been done in a while, to be honest) and restarted and tried LoTRO online again. Things worked fine, and I thought maybe updating the drivers had fixed the problem. But after about 20 minutes or so, it happened again and I had to restart again. After a few more random tries, re-checking the video settings, updating the driver for my monitor even, it would still do the same thing after about 15-45 minutes, so I gave up and went back to my normal game, WoW.

I've only ever had minor problems with WoW, and these all happen after major-ish patches and are solved fairly easily and fast, so I was surprised when suddenly characters on WoW were showing up as straight black, and instead of seeing smoke from fires, I saw huge black squares swirling up the screen. I thought this was weird, and thought maybe WoW was conflicting with LoTRO, but didn't want to uninstall LoTRO yet since I hadn't even had it 24 hours. I closed down WoW, and noticed that my whole PC was being incredibly slow, so after I restarted I opened WoW again to see if it would happen again. After about half an hour, the same thing happened again, but I wasn't able to exit WoW at all, so I had to restart the computer. This time, I uninstalled Lotro and got rid of all the files (/cry), restarted the computer and tried WoW yet again. Same thing still happened, and an error report window for WoW came up. I sent off the error report, and this time my PC wasn't lagging, so I opened WoW again so I could see what my video settings were at, but instead of opening, I got an error message saying the I needed to have DirectX 9.0c, and should update my graphic drivers. Finding this a bit weird, since I knew I already had to had DirextX 9.0c to run a lot of things I use, and since I'd just updated my drivers not even 12 hours earlier, I tried to update them again, just in case. But, there was no update at all, so I rolled it back and restarted my PC before opening WoW...

Now, it's working, I think. I've only played for about 45 minutes and so far everything is working just fine, but I don't think I'll really know until I try to play for an hour or two, since the game ran fine for at least half an hour to an hour each time before it crashed.
What I'm kinda confused about is my drivers. Did they somehow get rolled back without me noticing, is that even possible? Or is my PC just too old and not working as well as it should be? Did LoTRO do some serious damage to my video card, or was it just some weird mistake?

In any case, Nate said he might send me his old video card, which is a nice upgrade from my current one, so maybe that will help. It's a pity though, LoTRO was so fun, even though I only got to level 7. but I had a lute! I mean, even WoW doesn't have musical instruments that you can actually play yourself. I was so excited...booo.

No, YOU RP or shut up!

Grrrawr.

I had a pretty really good day at work today. I went into work in a good mood, and it lasted the whole day, even though I had to work this afternoon and I was really hoping that I wouldn't have to. But, I also got off work at 3pm, so it doesn't seem like I spent my whole day cleaning up after other people. Haha.

Anyways, I had a good day, until I logged onto WoW, I guess. I always try to talk to people that I find interesting or that don't mind babbling back and forth while questing, but I guess maybe I should quit doing that. One person basically told me to RP or shut up, which made me feel really sad. He seemed like a nice guy, and it was nice to just randomly talk to someone...but I guess he didn't enjoy it that much. Damn RP servers. What's so wrong with wanting to just talk? Oh well, it's not even a big deal, but for some reason it really upset me. I guess because it made me feel like I must be pretty boring to talk to, so he had to get rid of me somehow. And I'd already stated that I didn't RP, so maybe he used that card on purpose.

Annnyyyways, Phase 3 opened up last night, I was really excited for it. I don't know why, it was just neat to see all these alliance & horde at Quel'Danas, all waiting impatiently for enough people to do the dailies to push it from 99% to 100%. It was super laggy, and people flagged themselves on purpose and stood around the questgivers. Each time I went to turn in a quest, I heard people dying and saw skeletons on the ground EVERYWHERE. Which is really kind of funny, I did about 5 quests there and handed them all in without flagging myself even with all the flagged horde. Good times anyways.

Nate's Girlfriend

I'm in a really good mood. :D Today on WoW, Drew introduced me to a friend that he got playing WoW. And when he introduced us, he said, "This is Allie, Nate's girlfriend." and I honestly couldn't stop smiling. I've never been introduced as something like that before, and it made me so happy.

Flawless Diamond Solitaire

I was mentioning to Nate how I don't always like it when I hear about people I know getting engaged or married, or having kids because it makes me want to do that too (like ASAP, instead of my normal thinking of, 'it will happen when it happens'. I also think I freaked him out by talking about this). Anyways, a few hours later on WoW, this is what happened! I know he was just being silly and cheering me up, but it was cute. I had to take a screenshot of it. Weee. Here it is! <3 Click to see the full size image. The words...that's the only part that matters. :)

Murrr!

I love my Natey. <3 <3

I've been feeling pretty sick lately, and almost every day I have to have a nap it seems like. I think it was on Thursday and Friday, I honestly slept almost all day and all night, and napped off and on the entire next day. I know it's not because I'm doing too much, because I really don't. I do the kitchen and tidy up here and there and do laundry, and my own little stuff, but that's not even enough to make me feel tired. Normally. But lately I just feel so...energy-less.

Been spending a bit more time on WoW the past few days too, the people in the SR chat are starting to drive me a bit insane with their crazy quirks. And of course, there's always something weird going on in WoW. I signed a guild charter with my rogue, and I said I'd stay in the guild until they got more people. So, that's all good, I'm nice like that and the people in the guild so far seem really cool. But then, this one girl starts flirting with me? So I said, "You DO know I'm a girl, right?" and said goes, "Of course, and you know I'm a girl too right, right? ^_^" and then she kept doing that weird flirty thing. -_-;;; It's kinda funny, but kinda strange at the same time. I asked her to stop, and she mostly quit, but every now and then she'll send me a whisper with some random flirty thing in it. Doh. I don't get people.
And of course, when I told Nate about this, he goes, "Lesbian?" Haha. -_-; At least he didn't say, "Threesome plz?!"

I'm cheery. Nate said "I love you" first, which is kinda rare sometimes. Murr, it just makes me so happy. I have to remember this.

Natesy: I love you.
Allie F: I love you too. -nuzzles-
Natesy: I think I fixed it.
Allie F: That's good..I wouldn't have known what else to say..
Natesy: Just speak from your mind.
Natesy: You're smart.
Natesy: Smarter then you try to downplay.
Natesy: But you're just humble about it.
Allie F: -hugs close-

WoW Talk

So, my rogue is level 37 (finally, I didn't realize I'd been level 36 for 9 hours! But then again, I did a lot of mining, and me Nate and I ran through DM a few times just to see if we could pull it off alright), and I have 86g. I'm very impressed with myself, I earned over 40g in less than half a level. Hardcore. But, it's only because I took up mining and started selling Copper and Bronze Bars on the AH. I can get around 2-4g for each stack (depending on what kind it is) on Scarlet Crusade. Not too shabby if I do say so myself, especially since it's easy to get copper and to make bronze, people are just lazy to do it themselves.

I also made a Blood Elf paladin on Baelgun. She's level 14 right now. I made a guild on it too, called "We Have Cookies". We already have 29 members and the guild is 2 days old. /cheer

The Worst Creation

Geez. What is with dad? A little while ago he suddenly went out for some reason, and said something about women being the worst creation (or something like that) ever. Which...okay. Sure. Whatever...then he tries to explain it to me. I seriously don't care whatever is going on with whoever the hell you might be talking to...I DON'T CARE. Does the walking away while you're talking not give the hint? I'm sorry if it was rude, but how else will you shut up?
Then he keeps asking me if he's timid. And I say, "No, not really." then he'll ask me if I'm sure, or say, "Well if I was timid I wouldn't be able to do -insert random stupid thing here-."
Then he keeps asking if he's overly apologetic...which I said yes to. But he asked me like 4 more times...COME ON. JUST...shut up. Then of course, he apologized a few times for asking, then a few more times for bothering me. alskdjlk.
I'm so frustrated. I don't mind talking with dad and hanging out with him, but he keeps going on his stupid...whatever they are. He'll just babble and ask stupid questions, and I want to scream at him. alkjdlkjfkasjkjf
All better.

Anyways, Nate decided to play WoW last night. We played for hours...I was so happy. ^_^ I just had to say that, because it makes me happy. He seemed to have a lot of fun too, so I was happy about that. We're going to go into WSG together once he hits level 29. /cheer

WoWzers!

Oh yeah, I hit level 40 on WoW! It was great, until I realized I needed like 100 gold to get all the level 40 stuff. That includes my mount training, new skills, portal training...I guess that's really it. But it's a lot for one level. I already have my horse, and I paid for all my skills and portal training...just need mount training! -_-; I decided that I'm going to save it all up on my own, even though Zents offered to send me some gold (he has more than enough with all the 60's he has) but I said no thanks. So, I need like 60 g more. I don't think it's possible to make that much gold in one level unless you run a lot of instances...I don't know. I'm not a big fan of instances. But, I can pull it off!

Anyways, we're doing the christmas thing with mom tomorrow now. And we're picking up Daphne tonight. :) Yay. And Nate is sleeping...I wish he'd sleep more normal hours, so I could talk to him...at more normal hours?

You know you play too much WoW when...

...you see someone walking and your first thought is to hover your mouse (I guess it would really be your hand in this case - imagine hovering your hand over someone. lawl) over them to see their name, class and level.

I know, it's that bad. The other day when I went to GP with dad there was a guy walking down the side of the highway, and that was seriously my first thought. -_-; I just remembered it now though, and had to share it.

I hate Paladins!

Fuck. I'm just really pissed off. I finally got a chance to go into Scarlet Monastery so I could get a new staff, and everything went wrong. First they get mad at me because I'm not sheeping the adds...which yes, a few times I didn't even know there were adds to sheep because the annoying paladin kept going ahead and pulling things in different rooms. But, when I would sheep things someone would attack them anyways, then go "SHEEP" again. First off...sheep isn't really going to work IF YOU KEEP ATTACKING IT. I mean, c'mon. Everyone there should have known that.
Then after a little while, the paladin managed to get like 12 guys on us...so I sheeped a few, and was doing okay until sheep wore off, and everytime I'd try to sheep them again someone would attack them and it would wear off. But I had like 4 guys on me that I'd sheeped, so I died.
Not really a big deal, it happens. But, they got mad at me for that too. "Why did you sheep them?" ...umn, let me think...SO YOU WOULDN'T DIE? Yeah, that must be it. But hell, if I get in shit for saving you, then next time I'll just stand back and laugh while you die. No big deal to me.

I'm really tired. And now I'm sad because I didn't get my staff, and I guess I'll have to live with people going "lol...Andie..why do you still have a staff from DM?" Le sigh.

Giddy Up!

Hehe...I bought a horse today! On WoW of course. I forget what it's called though. It's brown...but not just a regular brown horse. It has a fancier name, and looks a nicer brown. I was going to get the Pinto, but he kinda looks weird. So I didn't. So now I have 20 gold left, and need to save up another 60 before level 40...which is TWO levels away.

Nate is really sad today. I feel bad, because I can't seem to cheer him up like he always does for me. I tried, and I think if it was a class I would have flunked. So.

WoW!

I got WoW today. I just need someones credit card number so I can sign up. <3 And me and Nate are gonna play later. It will be cool!

WoW: The Text Adventure

I gave up on cleaning, and found this on Wired News. The rest of the article can be found here.

Welcome to World of Warcraft: The Text Adventure.

You are standing at the end of a road before a small brick building. Around you is a forest. A small stream flows out of the building and down a gully. There is an elf with an exclamation point above her head here.
>Talk elf
"Alas," she says. "There is a great darkness upon the land. Fifty years ago the Dwarf Lord Al'ham'bra came upon the Dragon Locket in the Miremuck Caverns. He immediately recognized the ..."
> Click Accept
"Hey," the elf protests. "This is important expository. Azeroth is a rich and storied land, with a tapestry of interwoven ..."
> Click Accept
"OK, fine. Bring me six kobold tails."
> Shout "Where are the Kobolds?"
You hear a voice in the distance. "NE of stream, near lake." You hear another voice in the distance. "Right near lake." You hear another voice in the distance. "LF1M! Need priest!"
> Go NE
A small ramshackle house sits atop a hill, apparently abandoned. At the foot of the hill is a large field. The field is swarming with kobolds, their tails swinging seductively in the breeze.
> Kill kobold
You kill a kobold. You get a kobold tail.
> Kill kobold
You kill a kobold. You get two pieces of silver and a kobold tail.
> Kill kobold
You kill a kobold. You get three pieces of silver and an apple.
> What, no tail?
Apparently this was the rare but majestic Manx kobold.
> You said they had tails
You hear a voice in the distance. "LF1M just need any healer ready to go!"
> Kill three kobolds
You kill three kobolds. You get eight pieces of silver and four tails.
